Weekly Review // 03.31.17

Over the past couple weeks I've realized that I read a lot of things, watch a lot of things, and listen to a lot of things all over the internet. But I rarely share any of these with others, kinda just ingesting them and then moving on...

So instead of just wasting all of these interesting and entertaining pieces of content, I'm going to start curating them into a blog post at the end of each week.

Also, I'm going to use this space to do short recaps on what I've been up to.. whether thats personal updates, showcasing recent work, or whatever that might look like.

I'll be calling it, the Weekly Review...

And with that... Here we go!

What caught my attention this week?!

Do you know what its like to look back over a century of life? Probably not...

But imagine if you could, how many memories you'd be able to sift through and all of the advice or knowledge you might be able to share.

I came across this video that showcases just that opportunity. It's so worth the time to hear these stories from individuals who have lived over 100 years... It's so crazy to me to fathom the amount of history they've lived thorugh, and the excitment they still have to share!

I'm not shy about sharing what my good friend Nick Laparra is doing over at his podacast, Let's Give a Damn.

A few weeks ago, I had the crazy opportunity to join him while he interviewed someone who embodied one of my all time favorite TV characthers... none other then Rainn Wilson, sometimes known as Dwight Schrute.

Take a listen and hear about how Rainn is giving a damn in the world.

I used to be a huge fan of the MTV show, the Buried Life, and the dudes behind Yes Theory take that concept to another level!

Watch some of these videos and try not to be inspired to get off your chair and just do something!

They've done everything from hitchhiking to Mexico to crashing Oscar Parties. Love their energy and seriously love what they're inspiring people to do with their lives!

Salomon Ligthelm... This dude has been inspiring me to create since I was around 17.

His use of evocative imagery and sound to convey a story his unparalleled, and every single short film of his that I watch inspires me beyond simple creativity... He's able to evoke such emotion in such a short amount of screen time, that his films always leave me speechless.

Check out two of my recent favorites above.

What am I up to?

I'm currently chilling out a bit (aka playing a lot of Settlers of Catan) in Portland between my trips to California, but because it's who I am... I can't really chill out.

I've posted a few other blog posts in the past week or so, one about my approach to a roadtrip, one about how to make a killer margarita, and another showcasing a beautiful couple I had the privilege to take photos for. Would love for you to check those out.

I also had the opportunity to shoot some photos of my friend, who also happens to be a US Olympian, Andrea Geubelle. I've embedded a few of my favorites below.

In the next couple weeks I'll be doing a few shoots that I hope to share with you, and then I'm off to Coachella.

This first weekly review was pretty heavy with videos, but that's just because those are what really inspired me this week... who knows what the next week will hold!

If you come across anything you think is super cool this week, please share it with me! I'd love to see it.

Till next time!
