Margarita of the Year

Little known fact (or maybe a little too well known) about myself is that I'm a fan of tequila...

Tequila shots, margaritas, mojitos... you get the picture. I've really enjoyed working with Patrón in the past, and this time around I'm partnering with them to help showcase the versatility of the margarita.

I've been paired with the Coralina Margarita, but you can check out all of the "Margarita of the Year" recipes by visiting patrontequila.com and casting your vote for your favorite on social media to help name the #MargaritaOfTheYear by following this link.

So lets get to the Coralina!

These are the ingredients you'll need!

1.75 oz Patrón Reposado

.75 oz Patrón Citrónge Orange

1 oz fresh lime juice

.75 oz simple syrup

.5 oz Mexican red wine

Sugar salt rim (.25 cup dried hibiscus, .25 cup sugar, & .25 cup kosher salt)

To create the sugar salt rim, pulverize the dried hibiscus in a spice grinder. Then add the sugar and salt until combined. Run a lime across the rim of the cup and then gently dip the glass into the sugar salt to coat evenly.

  • Combine Patrón Reposado, Patrón Citrónge Orange, simple syrup and lime juice in a shaker tin; add ice and shake vigorously.

  •  Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe rimmed with sugar-salt rim.

  • Carefully float red wine on the surface of the cocktail.

And BOOM! You've got a solid Margarita on your hands! Enjoy!
